Dr. Michael Ojea

Michael graduated from Victoria University, where he accomplished his Master's of Health Science in Osteopathy and his Bachelor of Science (Osteopathy). You may recognize him as he has been one of our star receptionists at Berwick Osteopathy since 2017. Michael’s inspiration came from his older brother Martin Ojea, who recommended Osteopathy after Michael had enjoyed completing a massage course. Michael’s journey started in the northern rivers of NSW when he began his Osteopathy studies at Southern Cross University.

Unfortunately, at the age of 20, Michael was unexpectedly diagnosed with leukemia. And while he had to put his studies on hold for 6 months, Michael got to see and experienced first-hand the real value of Osteopathy. As his chemotherapy, radiation, and hospitalizations took their toll on his body, receiving regular osteopathic treatments helped him to manage his body aches and discomfort.

Now 4 years in remission, Michael is eager to give back and help those dealing with anything from minor aches to chronic, long-standing problems. He believes that a person’s health is ultimately in their hands and the right level of communication, education, and manual therapy that Osteopaths can provide, has a significant role in helping people’s overall health.

Aside from finishing his studies, you will most likely find Michael across the road with either his brother Martin or Steven at the gym, doing his best to stay fit and healthy. He completed his personal training certifications and has been a certified (rpm) group fitness instructor since 2015. Michael believes strongly in promoting health and understands that this begins with first looking after his own body.
