Shockwave Therapy

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy is a multidisciplinary device used in orthopaedics, physiotherapy, sports medicine, urology and veterinary medicine. Its main assets are fast pain relief and mobility restoration. It can be the ideal therapy to help speed up your recovery in acute or chronic pain.

This is a non-invasive treatment that involves creating a series of low energy acoustic wave pulsations that are directly applied to an injury through a person’s skin via a gel medium. This works by allowing your body to optimally utilise its own natural healing mechanisms.

What are the type of conditions or injuries that can be treated?

It has been found to be an effective treatment for predominantly tendon injuries and orthopaedic conditions such as plantar fasciitis, medial tibial periostitis, achilles, hamstring origin and patella tendinopathy. In addition to providing immediate pain relief, it has also been found to be effective for promoting tendon repair. It does this by stimulating the growth of new blood vessels into the tissues and much more.
