Acupuncture
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a complementary medical practice and a part of traditional Chinese medicine. It involves inserting fine needles into specific points on the skin or applying various other techniques to the acupuncture points. Acupuncture focuses on balancing the flow of energy throughout your body.
An Acupuncture session starts with discussing your presenting complaint with your therapist and designing a treatment plan based around your needs. The treatment may consist of a combination of the following; acupuncture needle insertion, moxibustion, acupressure, cupping, therapeutic massage techniques and lifestyle advice.

What is Myofascial Cupping?
Myofascial Cupping is an ancient Chinese therapy used to decrease muscle/fascia pain and discomfort. Plastic cups are applied to the area of tension via a specialised suction gun, which in turn creates ‘negative pressure’. Negative pressure put simply, is the opposite of ‘normal pressure’. Normal pressure requires a downwards force pressing into a surface (i.e the muscles), however negative pressure is created via suction, lifting the muscle layers up into the cup. By creating negative pressure, your therapist is able to create separation of the muscle/fascia layers and therefore facilitate the removal of the trigger points ‘knots’ within the muscles that cause us pain and discomfort.
